Celebrate Uncertainty? You’re Crazy!

Today’s culture celebrates uncertainty; it’s true. If you are firm in your belief, you are condemned to be short-sighted or closed-minded, a person NOT open to new ideas. You are not an intellect…why should we even listen to you?

Syncretism is killing our culture, our families, our churches, our souls! We are a world of lost souls wandering aimlessly through the desert of life, always searching, and passing right over life-giving water by eyes that don’t see! We need to bring Jesus Christ back into our lives, our work, our families, our relationships, our government, and yes, even back into our churches! It is unsustainable for everyone to wander about aimlessly searching for “their own way, their own meaning in lfe, what their idea of truth”. It is the turf of Satan! The breeding ground for invention. The more you divert and invent, the farther you will be away from Jesus! Get back to Bible study; it is your only foundation. It is ONLY by Jesus Christ who is our way, our truth, and our life, that we can be saved! It is ONLY Jesus that sustains us, for He is the Bread of Life and brings us ”life-giving water”. I beg you, turn away from the crowds on that wide road to destruction and set your eyes upon Jesus and look upon His wonderful face; only here will you find peace, meaning, love and truth! Amen!

Be like Joseph!

Joseph of the Bible’s Genesis stories had an interesting life; his brothers hated him and tried to kill him. He was sold into slavery. But over and over again the story tells us that God was with him; many might question, where is God in this? Joseph kept going, succeeding at every level; but problems still followed him. Falsely accussed of attempted rape by a jilted high-powered woman, he was wrongly thrown into prison. Prison, where he now had more chances to succeed, which he did. Forgotten by an exiting jailmate, he remained in prison where he continued to do the Lord’s work, not sitting around in self-pity. Joseph got out of prison by following the Lord’s Spirit and succeeded even greater, always keeping his eye on God and doing the right thing regardless of the possibile negitive outcomes when dealing with “the world”.

So what’s in this story for us? We would ALL do well to keep our eye upon Jesus Christ, do His will (not our own), and not worry about what the world thinks of us Christians. Put the Lord first and everything else (be it good or bad) will fall into proper alignment. Just because you follow Christ doesn’t mena your life will be easy; Jesus told us the world would hate us for what we believe (John 17), so don’t worry! Be of good cheer! If you are a Christian, you are a child of God…it doesn’t get any better than that! Blessings to you!

A Day of Prayer – A life of Prayer

Congratulations to Texas Governor Rick Perry and the 30,000+ people who participated in Day of Prayer event called “The Response” at Reliant Stadium in Houston on August 6, 2011. They prayed for our country, the President and all the other leaders. This was a very good thing to do and follows the pattern set our country’s founding fathers. We Christians are called into a life of prayer, and it is obvious that this Day of Prayer was not “a campaign prop” as some critics have voiced about Governor Perry; this is a solid man of prayer. Secular critics, not wanting to simply be quiet since they dislike having this event, have heaped criticism by saying: 1) they “excluded non-Christian faiths”…hey, it was a Christian event! They don’t say those things about an Islamic event; and 2) they “blended politics and religion”…hey, our country was founded exactly that way, a blend of politics and religion! and 3) they “blurred the boundary between church and state”…hey, there is no such boundary and no such thing as “separation of church and state”. There is only an “establishment clause” that says the government shall not establish a church or religion. It is shameful that this false argument still gets some attention and reinforcement when it is absolutely a complete non-issue. Regardless of your particular religion membership we should all be about sharing our planet together, talk to each other with quiet integrity and honesty, and show a loving compassion to others. That is what I heard from Governor Perry’s Day of Prayer event called “The Response”; it should be all of our response as well. It is what we believe!

What we need is a new way of seeing our world!

Have you becomed bored in the “Grand Debate”, generation after generation, between Creation and Evolution? Are you tired of hearing about all ”this and that”…the whole thing becoming so very muddy…that you just don’t know which side is right? I don’t blame you, however, if you have become tired of the whole thing, then you are like an Ostrich with your head in the sand, and that can hurt you. I believe that both sides have fueled the apathy in the matter and that adds to your fall. Your fall, yes your fall, into “relativism” where our world has gone. It can be an eternal fall, but there is hope to avoid this.

This “Grand Debate” war has been raging for so long, that each side in the debate has been able to retreat, regroup, and invent new terminology several times; so in turn to drop the next bomb on the other side. The result of this nonsense is to completely muddy the water, build defensive walls so people stop listening, and keep the un-intellectual, unable to learn and or understand, completely in the dark. Unloving activity in turn sponds apathy, unbelief, and a complete diversion from actually “seeing” who God really is.

The book “I Am, the Great Creator God” breaks through the dense fog on both sides of the arguement and teachs you how to see and understand who God really is. Scholarly researched, written in “normal everyday” language, orthodox and soldily supported, the book will cut through all the retoric and present a clear solid position you can stand on. What are we doing to our children?

May be you saw published in United Press International on July 17, 2011 where police in Midway, Ga. shut down a lemonade stand in the front yard of the home of 3 girls. Reason? Oh, the young girls didn’t have a business license, a peddler’s permit, and a food permit. The 3 girls wanted to go to a water park…can you say “heat wave” in the south? They weren’t stealing from their parents, but were working for the money! Who wouldn’t think that is a responsible lesson for these girls? You know they would have appreciated the value of the money having had to actually work for it instead of so many sticking a hand out to Mom and Dad.

At a time when our public schools give out condoms to minors without parental permission, when elementary kids are having oral sex on school buses, and when massive cheating rings are taking place with not only the students, but the teachers; I ask you, which lesson is teaching the kids the best most honorable thing to do? I pick selling lemonade! Can we simply ask for a little…just a little…common sense, please!

Minority objectors always win…why?

A recent news story told of a man in New Jersey who attached a cross to HIS tree to celebrate Lent. Police told him to take it down after a neighbor complained. In a Christian nation, as the USA surely is, one man’s feelings get hurt and so a member of the majority has to lose HIS rights? Schools teach about Islam and give out condoms to minors and no one says anything, but a silent expression of a cross on a man’s own property gets police attention! I like that old hymn, “stand up, stand up for Jesus, we soldiers of the cross…” Please be loving, but please stop with the apathy! Jesus acted as He turned over the tables of the money-changers in the Temple.

Don’t Use Calvin to Separate Christians

It seems that I have been encountering a number of places that are using John Calvin’s ideas of predestination to divide Christians into “Calvinists” and Non-Calvinists”. Any division of Christians on the basis of the human understandings of predestination or election is of the devil in my opinion. I will explain such a direct response shortly.

While it is true that some of us believe in predestination and some of us don’t, I will show you that both groups are right and there is no need for division at all. Divisions of Christians on any basis only dilutes the forces for Jesus and His commission for us to spread the Good News of the Gospel to all peoples. When Christians fight and divide, only Satan wins.

It is true that John Calvin believed that God’s sovereign will held all things together. Calvin, along with Luther and the other reformers, held tight to Biblical roots. They wanted to get the Church back on track to Biblical basics. John Calvin believed in one God, one people of God, one gospel of grace, and one story the Bible, the Logos. All Christians should be on board at this point. Now, the age-old argument sticks up its ugly head…were we predestined, elected to be in God’s House before time began or not? Before I give you the answer, let me ask one question. If everything is set ahead of time…who is in and who is out…then why did Jesus tell us to go out into the world and spread the Good News of the Messiah, our Lord and Savior?

“Time” is a dimension created for our earthly use. God exists where there is no time…everything is “now”. If everything is “now”, then there is no passage of time, and the beginning and the end are the same moment. That means that God can experience time as you do; as the song goes: “He walks with me and He talks with me, and tells me I am His own.” And as with Adam walking in the Garden together; but the Bible also tells us that we were known by God before the foundation of the world. God knows what we are going to do before we do it, because to God there is no movement of time. But wait, we are not God’s puppets controlled by heavenly strings; God’s love brings with it the risk of freedom to chose which way we will go, toward God or away. There is more on this subject of “time” in the book, “I Am, the Great Creator God“, but for this blog, I’m keeping my comments short. The point is that the argument of whether or not there is predestination or election should be reduced to the category of a “non-issue” for both are right based on the “time” perspective.

Friends, there is no real understanding of this; we have no frame of reference on what an existence without “time” would be like. This requires an open mind and faith. Besides, we don’t have to understand it anyway. Jesus said we should come “as these little children”. Not childish, but open, trusting, and believing as a child. One thing for sure, we should not be dividing our brothers and sisters in Christ into groups of separation over such concepts as these that we have no way of comprehending…until we come into His Kingdom. Amen.

What I got out of the Royal Wedding

I was NOT wrapped up in all the trappings of the Royal Wedding. It just seemed like a bunch of gossipping to me. But I awoke on that Friday morning with all the airwaves filled with TV coverage, and lo what did I see? I saw smiles, happiness and excitement. I saw a nation pull together for a singular event. I saw pride, laughter and merriment. People, lots of people, calmly wishing to be close; to be close enough to actually be a participant in the event. They were seeking to be included in something worthwhile and much bigger than themselves. I saw a world interested in something positive and happy…something good, instead of being a world we see in the news as being so hateful and ugly! The world was groaning and now is on fire; we need something beautiful and refreshing to put out those flames!

Yes, Mr. Todd, the Bible is the Word of God!

How appropriate for the day to be April Fools Day 2011. For the foolish TV show, “Hardball”, normally with Chris Matthews as host on MSNBC, that we would have Chuck Todd filling in as host. Mr. Todd’s foolish guest, Bobby Ghosh in commenting on the foolish actions of Rev. Terry Jones over a Qu’ran burning which has unfortunatly resulted in over 20 senseless deaths and 80 injuries, claimed that burning the Qu’ran was worse than burning the Bible. Ghosh’s foolish argument, agreed to by Todd, was that the Bible was written by man and the Qu’ran was written by God. Ghosh said that this “fact” was acknowledged by Christains. WRONG!

No, Mr. Ghosh and Mr. Todd, I am a Christian; I say and believe beyond a shadow of doubt that the Bible is in fact the Logos! The VERY sacred word of God! It is not just “the story of Jesus” as you are quoted as saying; it is about the eternal salvation of anyone that will turn to God and accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Just because the “real Christians” (not Christians in name only) are peaceful and don’t kill others over the burning of the Bible, does NOT make it any less painful than the Muslims being upset over the regrettable burning of “their book”.
