Search for REAL Truth – Just Because your Agenda Creates a Belief Doesn’t Make it True

Let’s “piggy-back” upon my last post and continue our study in “what is truth” as the sin of the global hoax of man-made climate change is revealed. An area of change in “what is truth” over the centuries is the link between cosmology and theology. Stay with me on this bit of history for it reveals how agendas create a made-up belief which then becomes truth for a group that they then hold to the death.

Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC) was a Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great. He with early theologians said the Bible tells us the Earth is at the center of the Universe and it is the sun that moves around the Earth. This thought was widely accepted and preached for centuries. There are indeed Old Testament Bible verses that speak to this concept, as follows:   Joshua 10:12, 13; Psalms 93:1; Psalms 96:10; Ecclesiastes 1:5; Isaiah 60:20; and Habakkuk 3:11.

Great thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Ptolemy, and much later in the 1600’s one Tycho Brahe all subscribed to the Earth being still in the center of the Universe and said it was truth. The Catholic Church subscribed to this notion to the point that people were killed and imprisoned for not believing this theology during the Inquisition. The first real serious challenge to the geocentric model of the Universe didn’t come until much later with Nicolaus Copernicus (February 19, 1473 – May 24, 1543), who never worked full-time as an astronomer, yet being the first astronomer to formulate a scientifically based heliocentric cosmology that displaced the Earth from the center of the Universe. It was his life’s work. His book, “De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium” (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres), is thought to be the starting point of modern astronomy and defined the beginning of the Scientific Revolution. Copernicus suppressed publication of his findings because of fear of being killed for his writings, which went against the powerful Catholic Church all right, but some believe he was actually more fearful of other scientists treading on his work. When Galileo Galilei wrote a book in 1610, “Sidereus Nuncius” (The Starry Messenger), that presented his research made with the new telescope, and proved the radical Copernicus right. This caused such an uproar that in 1616, the Copernicus book was banned by the Catholic church, as was anything that took away from “the Aristotelian fact” that the Earth was indeed the center of the Universe. Galileo was ordered to Rome to stand trial on suspicion of heresy in 1633, “for holding as true the false doctrine taught by some that the sun is the center of the world”, against the 1616 condemnation of Copernicus. Even though some Church Astronomers duplicated Galileo’s research and showed him respect, the Catholic Church just couldn’t take scientific proof that seemed to go against the Bible.

There are those people with their own agendas that push the reading of these types of Bible verse way too far; God also created a brain for us to use, and they simply need to use theirs. Today, there are still those that believe in the geocentric model of the Universe, even though we know that Copernicus and Galileo were right, and of course this fact does not diminish the Bible’s Truths whatsoever. Why, there is even a “Geocentric Bible” written by Gordon Bane, using King James text, and based on a 1992 book called “Geocentricity” by Gerardus D. Bouw, Ph.D. and published by The Biblical Astronomer in Cleveland, Ohio.

Concerning the Catholic Church’s Galileo heresy trial in 1633, “for holding as true the false doctrine…”, we saw on January 17, 2008, a Wall Street Journal story where Rome’s Sapienza University silenced & censored Pope Benedict XVI because 20 years earlier he had said he would have supported the 17th century heresy trial against Galileo…so much for free speech and free thought at a university…there is definitively something bazaar about all this mess!
